NUSTAND Petition to Divest

Divestment is the act of withdrawing investments in certain companies based on social and moral reasons. There are a number of institutions that are invested in various Sudanese based companies. Many of these companies generate oil revenue that fuels a large part of the Sudanese economy.

By taking out investments from these companies, the share price falls and causes the company to either pull out of Sudan or pressure the Sudanese government to stop the genocide.

Divestment is an indirect way of yielding very effective results.

I have read and accept NUSTAND's official petition statement found here. I hereby give permission for NUSTAND and its constituents to present my name to the administration of Northeastern University as a supporter of the Northeastern University Divestment Campaign. I am calling upon the Northeastern University Board of Trustees to divest Northeastern University's investments that are being invested in any company operating in the Republic of Sudan. If it is found that Northeastern funds are being invested in certain offending companies operating in The Sudan, I am calling upon the Northeastern Board of Trustees to divest all stocks, securities, or other obligations from those companies. Moreover, I am calling upon the Northeastern Board of Trustees to declare that it, and its investment managers, will not make further investments in those offending companies until the Sudanese government stops its military and militia forces from committing genocide.
